About Anna
Anna’s Values & Approach
My life and my work are influenced heavily by two crucial needs we humans have: love and respect - and when it comes to our work in session, not as I define them, but as they are requested and sought out by the folks I work with. I’ve decided to dedicate myself to mental health work because I have love for humanity. I am connected to people in a deep way and feel honored to support folks as a licensed clinical professional counselor.
I respect that the effort it takes to ask for and receive help is tremendous. I thank you for seeking that out for yourself. I am committed to working with you to identify and actualize your goals, whether that be navigating experiences and/or traumas, feelings of depression, anxiety, grief and loss, navigating fat liberation and anti-fatness, or exploring ways you can most be in line with your authentic self.
We enter the therapeutic space focused on what matters most to you. We are here to meet you where you’re at, not where I or anyone else envision you to be. This work is collaborative and always up for debate! We ebb, flow, adjust based on what you share you need. We challenge you in tolerable doses. We honor you.
Because it can be hard to predict a connection based on a website, I welcome you to reach out for a complementary 20 minute consultation with me. This can help you in deciding if working with me might be a useful and safe experience for you.
I look forward to you contacting me at 312-646-8937 or anna@kultys.org to get started!
Education & Credentials
I have accrued years of experience in the mental health as well as forensic fields, focusing my work on individual counseling since 2013. My experience is drawn from having worked with adults in community and private mental health settings as well as within the context of medicolegal evaluations. I am currently licensed as clinical professional counselor in Illinois and have owned my private practice since November 2021.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 2005. During that experience, I worked as a mentor and advocate for adolescents at risk of becoming involved in the legal system to secure services for them and their families. I also worked on research focused on increasing understanding and services for Latinx families who were caregiving for family members with schizophrenia.
I earned my Master's degree in Forensic Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2008. During that experience, I trained at a transitional living program, aimed to empower adults with chronic mental health struggles to attain independent living.
After graduating, I worked to assist in completing psychological evaluations for folks involved in both civil and criminal cases. Heeding my individual call to walk with folks on their journeys, I began providing individual psychotherapy in 2013.
I have also instructed courses at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology's Master of Forensic Psychology Online program, focused on teaching clinically oriented skills.
Currently, I am actively engaged in studying advanced skills in working with trauma as well as fat liberation. I have completed a fellowship focused on the study of psychodynamic psychotherapy, in addition to numerous trainings focused on current and best practices in working with various needs and populations.
